Naturally it has emerged as one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Maharashtra. This mesmerising locale in Shrivardhan Taluka, Dist. Raigad, is easily accessible from cities like Mumbai and Pune. It is approximately 170 km. away from Mumbai on the South. Apart from Diveagar, places like Murud Janjira, Harihareshwar, and Srivardhan promise the best tourist experience. These tourist destinations have great historical background. The Sea-fort of Murud-Janjira was once known to be an impregnable fort. Shrivardhan also has distinct historical significance because it is the birth-place of one of the most dynamic Peshwa of Maratha empire, Balaji Vishwanath. Village Velas has come to light in the recent times for annual turtle festival. This has become great tourist attraction because different species of turtles visit the beach during their breeding season. Prominent amongst them is Olive Ridley.

Harishareshwar is one of the prominent religious place in the vicinity known for beautiful Shiva Temple and Kal-bhairav temple. The Suvarna-Ganesh Temple is the most popular shrine of devotees visiting Diveagar. This temple had the Ganesh Murti made of gold, weighing up to approximately 8 kg.
